Student Inquiry in the Research Process
Phase 5: Conclusion & Reflection
Instructor Guide

 

Goal:

Students will conclude their inquiry through dissemination tools and personal assessment strategies.

 

Objectives:

  1. Students will conclude his/her inquiry.

  2. Students will complete a personal assessment of process and product.

  3. Students will complete a peer assessment.

  4. Students will complete an Annotated Bibliography.

  5. Students will organize the Research Journal.

  6. Students will complete a teacher/instructor evaluation and make suggestions for future use.

  7. Educators will complete an assessment of the inquiry process and teacher/library media specialist collaboration.

Teacher will:

  • Develop a checklist for the contents of the journal.

 

Library Media Specialist will:

  • Create a visual and handout for how to cite each type of source available for students to use.

 

Teacher and Library Media Specialist together will:

  • Devise a plan for students to show off their efforts (see Parent and Community Involvement).
  • Review student’s Research Journal and provide feedback in them as well as consultation follow-ups as necessary.
  • Conference with students needing guidance.
  • Remediate instruction with whole class or small groups as need arises based on student's Daily Reflections.
